Report on the 2012 Hunting Art Prize Gala

The Gala Saturday night was quite the experience.  There were ice sculptures, flowers, gourmet food, and 4 exhibition areas that each had a theme from one of the four seasons.   My piece happened to be exhibited in the 'Winter' room.

Chip and I met several cool people- mostly my exhibition wall mates.

I may not have won the competition, but I was thrilled to be chosen as one of the 105 finalists out of over 1,600 entries from all across Texas.  It was a great experience and I hope I get to attend many more Hunting Prize Galas in the future.

This experience was simply one step in my journey of success as an artist.  My creative motor has been revved and it is shaping up to be a busy Spring/Summer of art making, competition entries, and project proposals.

Parrish Blue

This is a shot I took Tuesday night after dinner with friends. The sky reminded me of a Maxfield Parrish painting.
It also reminds me of the many evenings spent reading teen thriller fiction after I finished homework from classes in Junior High School. I loved the element of escapism those stories provided.

April News

The Hunting Prize Art Gala is less than 20 days away and I'm getting more excited about it as the days go by. Also, this Saturday, April 14th is Spring Street Studios "2nd Saturday". My studio will be open from 2-5. Come by and see me! Also, on the same day as the Gala(April 28th), there will be a special "Spring Open Studios" to coincide with the closing of the Fotofest exhibit in the building. It will be from 3-9. I will try to be there for the first part before I have to go to the Gala.
