A New Beginning(Again)

First and foremost I would like to start by saying thank you to everyone who has supported me in the past and those who support me presently. This entry will begin a new direction for me in my career. Looking back, my posts have been rather short and impersonal and I've sort of used it as a 'show-and-tell' without really giving any backstory on the work itself. Going forward I will be updating much more regularly and talking at length about each new piece I produce.
Also, other changes will include me working more in series. Some working ideas for future series include: My friends(as vampires), Dancer series, my ongoing fascination with pigeons, and I will be creating more cubes. I've also been working out an idea in my head for a 'zine' series. I also have several upcoming shows: 1. Gallery Lazzara's anniversary group show with two openings: October 8th 7-10PM and October 9th 6-9PM. I will also have a booth at the W.H.A.M(Winter Holiday Art Market) benefitting Spacetaker.org on November 20-21st at Winters Street Studios in the Washington Ave. corridor area. I would also like to start a come and go monthly brunch(maybe in October) as a time to showcase my new work and to have fun and socialize with all of my friends.
A note on the change: I have been researching artists who have taken a more unconventional route to success outside of the traditional art world system. I have found a nice number who have been successful with this approach and some who have been VERY successful with this approach. Those who know me, know that I am short on patience with some aspects of life-success being one. I constantly look at gallery system established artists and admire their work and creativity, etc. The one problem I have is that they mostly all reach that level of success around 45 or 50+. I find this unacceptable. I can't think of another profession besides art where this is acceptable or desirable. I have decided that I am going to strike off in a different directions like the artists I have researched. I am going to learn from their successes and their mistakes. I have the talent and the ambition to get myself where I want to be faster than the traditional system will allow. This is going to be an adventure and I want to share it with all of you.

Thank you for reading
-Will Brooks
